We had a wonderful trip to see "Olive and Pearl," at BAM, in downtown Brooklyn. We took the subway to Atlantic Avenue. All the kids were very responsible on the train. On the way there we had to ride in rush hour, and even though very few of them had a seat, they all held onto the poles and listened carefully to instructions.
Before the play, we ate snack at BAM and colored on pages that the staff handed out to us. Then we got to go upstairs to the theater and sit down on the floor on cushions. The play was about grandma Olive, her granddaughter Pearl, and their day together. The two of them ate, sang, danced, and played pretend, kind of like what we do together every day!
Afterwards the children had a chance to meet the actors who played Olive and Pearl, and play with the toys and props that were part of the performance. We pointed out to the actors that we have two Pearls in our own group (Pearl S. and Pearl A.), and they marveled about that coincidence! It was a very fun trip, and we look forward to going on another trip during June!
